Hung Ly

Hung comes to Codeup with a unique background in technology, management, and education. He studied Computer Science before enlisting in the Air Force. During his eight years of service, Hung held positions as Airfield Operations Manager and Training Manager. He brings experience in developing curriculum, training compliance, and guiding others towards professional growth. In 2017, Hung graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Aeronautics. He is an advocate for serving others and the community. Hung is also a Codeup alumnus who hopes to empower future students towards a successful career change. In his free time, Hung enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and learning new technologies.

Faith Kane

Faith Kane holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from UT Austin and a Master of Education specializing in Talent Development and Advanced Curriculum from Texas State University. Her background in public education spans nineteen years and six districts in Dallas and San Antonio. Faith is a long-time advocate for empowerment through quality education. She is a graduate of Codeup’s Data Science program who now uses her background to guide and support students.

Casey Friday

Casey graduated from UTSA with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Music. He has since spent almost 10 years as a web developer, specializing in automation and e-commerce. He also spent 1.5 years as the Director of Security at a cryptocurrency hedge fund, where he built custom software for emerging crypto technologies. He has always loved learning new skills quickly and is thrilled to share this pastime with Codeup students. Outside of the class, he loves to disassemble every product can, to see how they work.

Terrell Stewart

Terrell Stewart Teaching Assistant at Codeup | Coding Tech Bootcamp San Antonio

Terrell is a San Antonio local, Codeup alumni, and now is a technical teaching assistant here. If you have a problem he will do his best to help you work though it, making sure you succeed is his goal! He believes nothing says fun like learning a skill that will better you as a person! He loves gaming, conventions, travel, and spends most of his free time trying to master cosplay and streaming. He once ate a ghost pepper whole on a bet and after a brief stint in the hospital pretended like the event never happened.

David graduated from Codeup as a part of the Xanadu cohort. With years of experience in retail management prior to Codeup, his experience in teaching in the moment helps to drive students to experiment and move forward. David’s biggest advice for building software? Be honest, be kind, and keep going. David is an avid fan of history. He loves collecting video games and older technology: looking back to admire the progress we make everyday. When not in the realm of tech and electronics: David is a huge basketball fan, and rabid macaroni and cheese enthusiast.”

Sophie Kurihara

Sophie Kurihara Instructor at Codeup | Coding Tech Bootcamp San Antonio

Sophie studied Computer Science and Music before diving into the world of web development. After graduating with the Olympic cohort, she worked as a web developer and designer, then came back as an instructor. Sophie believes in constant learning and a design-centric approach to problem solving (and life in general). In her free time, Sophie works on her music, spends time with her family and loves supporting San Antonio’s local culture. Because of her enthusiasm for trying new things, she got sucked into the circus and now trains in aerial arts at Aerial Horizon. If she is having a bad day, boba usually does the trick.”

Vivian Canales

Vivian is a San Antonio transplant, StMU alum, and instructor at Codeup. After graduating with the Quincy Cohort, she worked at an AI startup in San Antonio. Prior to her shift into software development, she worked as a high school math and science teacher. Working at Codeup is the perfect combination two of her passions, teaching and coding. Outside of the classroom and her computer, she enjoys multiple hobbies, such as crafting, virtual reality, and learning new things.

Justin Reich

Justin is a web developer and Codeup instructor. An experienced educator, prior to Codeup, Justin taught piano performance for eight years in San Antonio. In addition to learning new web technologies, Justin enjoys helping people overcome challenges encountered in the learning process. A native Texan, outside of development and teaching, Justin is a dedicated husband and stepfather, avid gamer, and music-making hobbyist. A self-professed nerd culture and food enthusiast, Justin’s love for Star Wars is only matched by his voracious hunger for spicy food.

Daniel Fryar

Daniel has been a professional software engineer for more than 15 years, working for big companies like IBM and USAA and smaller companies you’ve probably never heard of. He started learning how to program in third grade and has kept on learning ever since. He has a BS in Computer Science from ACU and several years experience with classroom instruction. He loves teaching coding because it is a different way of thinking. He agrees with Yeats’ quote, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Daniel hasn’t always been this way. But now he has 5 teenagers. Daniel is now a little crazy.
